poppy

I found this poppy in someones yard. According to the neighborhood stories, the original poppy from the garden was planted when they came home from World War 1. For years after, the poppies always bloomed on Memorial day. (Until about 10 years ago when a fence landed on the garden. The poppies did come back, but not the same day anymore.)

I love poppies! I'm making a copy of this one and putting it up on our wall to show friends and customers. Thanks, and take more. Great translucent color that speaks of age and almost like a skirt or dress on a plant, a lady, with ruffles at the edges of her skirt: she's still young at heart and can be young or older - this red poppy makes me think of all that.

Thanks! I went back the next day to take more pictures, but the poppies were ruined by the wind. I'll be checking for them next year.
